They say good things come to those who wait.
Apple fans might get all their Christmases at once, if reports that Apple Pay is rolling out globally are true.
Pay to play
According to ReCode, Apple Pay is preparing to move beyond apps to websites later this year.
Apple Pay, which currently allows users to purchase goods on a mobile app using their fingerprint rather than a credit card, is currently in limited release.
In Australia, only American Express-issued credit card holders can use the service.
Money talks
Multiple sources confirm that Apple is talking to potential partners about expanding Apple Pay. It's speculated that the roll out will begin with buyers using Safari on their iPhones and iPads.
There's also talk of the service being rolled out to Apple laptops and desktops.
Retail opportunity
The move would bring Apple into direct competition with PayPal, which currently lets users pay via mobile with its service One Touch.
While PayPal has more skin in the game at this stage, if Apple can provide a streamlined way for its users to part with their cash, it could make a dent in the mobile and web-based payments space.
The move could also be a boost for small retailers looking at more convenient (and possible cheaper) payment options.
