Facebook chases teen market with Lifestage

If at first it doesn't succeed, Facebook tries and tries again.

First there was Poke, then Slingshot. Now Facebook's latest grab at the teen market is standalone app Lifestage.

Life Be in It

Lifestage is designed for secondary school students to share content with students both from their school, and nearby schools.

Profile photos have been supplanted by selfies, but Lifestage is largely based around videos.

Users can record video that shows what they're liking or disliking at the moment.

Teen dream

Lifestage's other point of difference? It was designed by an actual teenager, 19 year old Michael Sayman.

The app brings Facebook full circle in some ways: the platform was originally designed for college students to share content.

If this is enough to put a dent in Snapchat's millennial mojo is another matter. You can bet if it doesn't, Facebook will keep trying.
