Facebook trials photo synching for iOS

Facebook's mobile app for iOS has often been accused of slow loading times and general clumsiness, but a new report suggests the social network's mobile offering is getting better.

Synch and snap

According to a report from Tech Crunch, Facebook is trialling Photo Synch for iOS.

This means any photo taken from an iOS device would instantly upload to a private Facebook album, with users then choosing which images to make public.

Catching up

Photo synching from mobile devices isn't exactly new. Facebook already offers the service for Android devices. Nor is it unique. Google+'s Instant Upload has been photo synching since February 2012.

Photos beat text

By rolling out Photo Synch to all its iOS users Facebook will almost certainly boost engagement levels, and the price it can charge for mobile advertising.

And with images liked twice as often as text updates on Facebook, if photo synching gets the green light it will be another way for brands to gain exposure on the go.
