Let's face it, searching on mobile can be frustrating at the best of times.
Rejoice because Google has heard your cries and just rolled out an update making mobile search more streamlined.
On-the-grow
Google announced the news in a blog post.
"To help mobile searchers understand your website better when we show it in the mobile search results, today we’re updating the algorithms that display URLs in the search results to better reflect the names of websites, using the real-world name of the site instead of the domain name, and the URL structure of the sites in a breadcrumbs-like format," Google wrote.
Mobile make up
Now when users perform a search on their mobile device they will see results reflecting the "real world" name of the site, rather than a clunky domain name.
While URL's will now appear in a "breadcrumb" format – giving users more relevant information about the site.
Update now
As part of the update, Google also unveiled support for web masters to substitute website names for domain names, and instructions on how to simplify how URLs into the breadcrumb format.
While the update is only available in the US, it's a reminder for all brands to ensure their website up to speed for mobile users.
