GoPro has announced plans to let content create license videos made using their ubiquitous cameras.
GoCash
The GoPro Licensing Platform allows creators to license their videos to brands and production companies. Creators can watermark videos to protect against unauthorised use.
To complete the transaction both buyer and seller must register for the service.
Making movies
At the moment there are over 500 videos available on the platform from a mix of GoPro, videographers and professional athletes. Some are available on 4K.
The cost of licensing begins at US$1000 for six months, which is more expensive than similar offerings on rival stock service Getty Images.
Moving on up
The update marks a big move for GoPro from manufacturer to content provider. The company is also looking to build its own drone later this year.
So far the move has pleased investors, with the announcement seeing a 6.7% rise in GoPro's stock price.
