LinkedIn has just released its 2012 list of Most InDemand employers, with technology companies topping the charts.
Tech boom
Google, Apple, Microsoft and Facebook were the most in demand employers, with 21 out of the top 100 companies in the Technology and Software sector.
Twitter ranked #14, with Amazon #25.
Consumer brands also rated strongly, with Pepsico, Coca Cola, Nike and Nestle all placed in the top 20.
Australian resources
The top Australian companies came from a range of sectors including mining, technology, finance and broadcasting.
The leading Australian employers are Rio Tinto, Google, Leighton Contractors, John Holland and Microsoft.
NAB was the highest ranking bank at #10, with CommBank at #15. The ABC ranked #13 while Telstra was placed at #20.
Ranking
LinkedIn compiled the results through survey responses that cross-referenced data from its 175 million users, and explained the process on its blog.
“We cross-referenced our data with thousands of survey responses to pinpoint the specific activities that best indicate familiarity and interest in working for a company: connecting with employees, viewing employee profiles, visiting Company and Career Pages, and following companies.
“After crunching this data and normalizing for things like company size, we developed our top 100 global list. We then applied LinkedIn profile data to rank the most sought-after employers among professionals in five countries and four job functions.”
While large brands made up many of the top slots, 50 per cent of the top 100 employers had under 7000 employees. LinkedIn also excluded itself from the results.
