Just a year after taking their relationship to the next level, Google and SAP are publicising what they call ‘critical updates and announcements’ about their partnership.
Current SAP apps, Google Cloud & G Suite
SAP HANA—the relational database manager—now runs better on the Google Cloud Platform. They’re calling it ‘certified infrastructure’, which seems to mean Google has tweaked their cloud servers to optimally handle every function of that SAP HANA might try.
On the flip side, Identity and Access Management from the SAP Cloud Platform now supports both the Google Cloud Platform and G Suite apps. This should allow enterprise clients who use both to let users access all their apps from absolutely any device.
Future dual offerings
In the same breath, Google and SAP are talking about using machine learning to get systems to guide users through complex workflows and transactions, but they’re not talking about launch dates on that just yet.
There’s also talk of combining Gmail with SAP Cloud for Customer to better automate lead generation and sorting. A few other mooted cross-over could also benefits companies that use both.
Google and SAP seem to be getting serious about their future together, but is the tighter embrace actually going to save users’ time and increase productivity?
