Nearly 11 million users
The total number of Facebook users in Australia has reached 10,945,940 according to Socialbakers analytics data, having grown by 286,360 in the last six months. This ranks Australia 19th internationally in terms of the number of users per country.
51% penetration of the Australian population
Socialbakers also reports that Facebook penetration in Australia has reached 51.48% compared to the country’s population, and 64.26% in relation to the number of internet users. This gives Australia has a 0.05% higher Facebook population penetration than New Zealand.
54% of Australian users are female
54% of Australian Facebook users are female and 46% are male. This is comparable to Facebook statistics in the USA, where 55% are female and 45% are male.
26% of Australian users aged 25 – 34
The 25 – 34 range is the most well represented age group on Facebook in Australia, totaling 26%. This is closely followed by users between the ages of 18 – 24 at 24%.
75% use Facebook at least once a day
75% of Australian users engage with the platform at least once a day, with 54% using it several times a day.
