Number Crunch: Pinterest Q1 2015

There's much more to Pinterest than pins and pretty pictures.

One of the most popular platforms when it comes to audience engagement, Pinterest is slowly transforming into a lucrative space for brands and marketers.

Here's a little look into the image-sharing superstar.

Pin to win

There are now 72.8 million Pinterest users globally, who use the platform an average of 14.2 minutes per visit.

By the end of this year it's expected there will be over 47 million Pinners in the US alone.

Gender bender

Pinterest remains the most gender-skewed social network. At last count over 85% of Pinterest users were female.

While 42% of internet-connected US women use Pinterest. 

Pin points

Pinterest has an increasingly global appeal.

Over 40% of Pinner reside outside of the US, while in 2014 the platform grew a massive 135% outside its native US.

Brand points

Pinterest users are a well-heeled and tech-savvy bunch.

The majority of Pinterest users have a college education and earn over US$80,000 per annum.

Women who use Pinterest are 33% more likely to have purchased consumer electronics in the past six months.
