While it's been some time coming, 2017 might be the year 360 video finally comes to the mainstream social scene.
Now Periscope's joined the party, supporting 360 video clips.
Look around
Users can now watch 360 videos from Twitter and Periscope on the live-streaming platform.
The videos are labelled with a Live 360 badge, and are currently being tested with a select group of partners.
Big picture
Immersive 360 video and VR content is increasingly gaining traction on Facebook and YouTube, as consumers become more familiar with the technology, and content becomes slicker.
If Twitter-owned Periscope can gain ground in the mobile 360 space, it could let brands give viewers a new way to experience exclusive events. And kitten videos.
Periscope says the feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks. To apply for the waiting list click here.
