Twitter is reportedly on the verge of launching 15 new types of ad units.
More is more
According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, the ads will be aimed at e-commerce companies and mobile game developers, and encourage users to download apps via Twitter.
Bounce back
While Twitter hasn't had a stellar 2014 so far, the tide looks to be turning.
A recent report revealed Twitter advertising is now more cost-effective than Facebook, and Twitter's advertising revenue more than doubled to US$219.6 million in Q4 2013 – yet the company has yet to make a profit.
Facebook follow
The new ad strategy is taken straight from the Facebook playbook, whose mobile products often include calls to action such as “install now” or “shop now”.
Time will tell if brands and users embrace the new ad-heavy Twitter.
