In 2013 Twitter launched more features than ever before, and if recent activity is anything to go by, 2014 looks set for more of the same.
The latest news suggests Twitter is trialling a feature that recommends other users' accounts.
Follow me
According to The Next Web, Twitter is testing a way to allows users to favourite other accounts. For example, users could favourite their top five Twitter accounts, which then acts like a permanent endorsement.
Similar to #followfriday, but with more permanence.
Recommended tweeting
At this stage the feature is still being trialled, but if successful it could be another way for brands to gain exposure and help users discover more relevant accounts.
It could also potentially open up another revenue source – imagine high-profile tweeters charging for 'favouritism'.
Whatever happens, it marks another way Twitter is maturing far beyond 140 characters.
