Atlassian has unveiled Stride, a collaborative messaging platform designed in appearance and function to rival Slack.
Capitalising on the familiar
Stride is poised to compete in the realm of project management, with its own platform unabashedly similar to the layout of Slack.
The new app will allow voice and video conversations through desktop, mobile devices, and on the web. In an effort to not be a complete clone, Stride does offer a few extras.
Through video conference, users can screen-share and take control of each others platforms to help with dual programing and large scale projects.
Stride builds off other Atlassian apps
Stide is powered by some of the same productivity software running JIRA, Trello, and Confluence, with built-in project management tools using the same visual technology of the previous apps.
The app is meant to counter three main trends: fragmented messaging, maximise attention spans (through a ‘do not disturb' function), and eliminate cascading threads.
Users will also be able to customise Stride to their own requirements through API and marketplace extensions.
Stride will also offer a freemium model and a $3 paid model, removing the limit of 25,000 messages and adding 5GB of file space.
Would you be inclined to switch to Stride? What are your thoughts on freemium versus paid? Let us know in our comment section.
