YouTube’s in-app messaging and video sharing features have left beta, and will be getting an official launch.
YouTube allows messaging
The new features aim to make the video streaming juggernaut a contender with other mobile messaging apps.
After seeing success in Canada and Latin America, messaging and sharing will be receiving a global release in the very near future, with a few slight changes.
The user interface will receive a slight revamp with shared videos sticking to the top of a chat when scrolling downward. This provides a more of a real-time feel, although emoji responses are not yet available.
Where it all started
With comments being a pivotal part to YouTube’s popularity, active chat in lieu of commenting is a natural step to keep conversation active and current.
Friends can be invited via your mobile’s address book, making the sharing even easier than searching a specific username.
At the moment there is no way to block requests though some tweaks are to be expected, however users will be able to respond to videos with their own video.
Are you ready to chat through YouTube? Would you send videos to friends in your address book? Give us your feedback in the comments section below.
