LinkedIn has announced plans to let users to seek out and connect with experts, to either gain a mentor or new employment opportunities.
Nope, nope, yes! Swipe.
At present, the new feature is only available to a limited selection of San Francisco and Australia-based participants. Potential mentors will have the ability to choose who is able to approach them for help.
Selection criteria can be focused on members of a user’s first and second degree network, people located in their surrounding area, and fellow university grads.
My mind is a garden of business tidbits
The new push for intermingling is LinkedIn’s bid to encourage business experts to share their experience and skills with up-and-coming professionals, looking to climb the ladder.
LinkedIn may also be trying to thwart competitors such as BetterUp and Everwise and keep users straying from their platform.
