For the first time, Reddit is introducing videos ads which will appear in user discussions and message boards.
The front page of the internet is alive
The popular forum and content sharing site did not previously allow for user to host video, but increased requests by advertising clients are changing that, names such as Universal Pictures and A24 Films.
An in-site video player is also in the works to bring the long-awaited addition to the regular user tool kit. Sited as the 4th most trafficked website in the United States, the new initiative could see a broader reach for advertisers.
Better late than never
With more media sensitive consumers taking to the net, with sponsored content ever waning in popularity, the addition of video is long overdue. Message board communities and subreddits will be able to participate in video sharing without linking off-site.
As competition stiffens to remain relevant, Reddit has further solidified as a culture rather than a niche.
