While Facebook is one of the most popular places to express yourself online, a new report suggests you might want to exercise caution when posting and going for a job.
Apparently recruiters are swarming over Facebook to vet candidates, and they’re not impressed.
Slow head shake
The report from Jobvite shows that while 90% of recruiters use LinkedIn as a first stop when researching candidates, they’re casting an increasingly wide net.
Close to half of respondents said they scan Facebook, and 22% use Twitter, when looking to fill roles.
Keep it clean
It turns out most recruiters are kind of square. At least at work.
They tend to take a dim view of posts involving alcohol consumption, poor spelling, drug references, and oversharing.
Even posting too many selfies can have a negative impact on recruiters. And while we don't necessarily disagree, if you can't shake the selfie habit just lock down your privacy settings.
