YouTube expands Live Streaming on Mobile

YouTube has announced an increase of live-streaming availability to users with less than 1000 followers.

A boost for the little guy

At the launch of “Go Live” via popular YouTube channels, content creators were required to have a minimum of 10,000 followers, which was then downgraded to 1000.

The update has not been officially announced, but change is in the wind as the option has been appearing on more and more profiles.

Content creators will still be required to have a proven channel for 90 days prior to going live.

The time of Real-Time is at hand

The update comes as Facebook has also loosened the reigns on who can Live stream. Users seem to like the format. Facebook Live videos receive 10X more comments than pre-recorded videos.

First championed by the now defunct Meerkat, then adopted by Periscope, live streaming is now squarely in the mainstream.
