Taking a cue from Tinder, YouTube has introduced a new tapping system to help users more efficiently navigate through videos.
Swipe Right
Select YouTube users on iOS and Android can now double-tap on the left or right hand side of their screen to either fast forward or rewind, in 10 second blocks.
Google has been toying with the feature since 2015. For now the double tap only works in full screen mode.
Tap that
While the update isn't exactly major, it could help brand generate more views and completion rates. It could also make longer videos more appealing for users, as long as they know they can skip to the good bits.
With average video lengths shortening, YouTube's new double-tapping may see that figure shrink even further. The now defunct Vine would be proud.
