Messenger comes Home

Facebook Messenger has come home.

The app has received a serious upgrade to its Home page as Facebook looks to boost chatter among its 900 million users.

Finding friends

Where the old Home page would display a simple list of conversations in descending order from most recently active, Facebook has broken it up into a handful of sections.

At the top of the screen remains a user's most recent conversations, while directly below that is a horizontal list of favourite friends who have dropped out of the recents list.

The ever-important Facebook birthday notification has also made its way over to Messenger, with friends' birthdays to be displayed under the favourites bar.

Maximising use

Facebook has also introduced a list of active friends, dragging it out from a menu in the People tab, in a bid to coax users into starting more conversations.

The Home refresh comes on the back of recent updates that added multi-platform Messenger emojis and re-introduced SMS capabilities to the Android app.
