Facebook’s pursuit of both Twitter and YouTube’s turf is escalating as it attempts to woo more celebrities to use Live, its newish live streaming feature.
Live in the moment
Live launched last year, and was originally only available for high profile users and select partners.
While Live remains exclusive for brands with Verified Pages, Facebook is reportedly reaching out to Hollywood heavyweights to use the service. This could potentially put a dent in Twitter’s position as the favoured platform of the rich and famous.
The arrangement would involve revenue sharing – similar to how YouTube splits its profits with content creators.

Live video is set to be kind of a big deal this year.
Viewers watch Live videos three times longer than regular video, and Facebook recently tweaked its algorithm to give Live video more weight.
Expect a wider roll out of Live later this year – and for Twitter, Periscope, and YouTube to be following developments closely.
