BitTorrent has just launched Shoot, an app intended to make sharing large files between mobile devices more streamlined.
Shoot for the stars
BitTorrent announced the release in a blog post.
“Shoot allows you to send photos or videos directly between mobile devices, no matter what device you use or what network you’re on,“ BitTorrent’s Erik Pounds explained.
Faster, bigger, better?
Shoot runs off BitTorrent’s Synch technology, which allows files to be shared across mobile devices running on different operating systems.
BitTorrent says Shoot uses peer-to-peer services instead of sending files through the cloud, improving upload and download times.
Shoot also doesn’t impose size limits on files – this is determined by users’ storage capacity.
New kid on the cloud block
Services like Dropbox and Google Drive have dominated the file sharing space for sometime now.
With Shoot, the market just got more crowded, and a little more interesting for consumers.
