Amazon t is teaming up with Snapchat to corner the market on the instant shopping experience.
See it, snap it, buy it
Snapchat has announced it will slowly be rolling out an entirely new visual model for product searching Amazon by scanning music, QR Snapcodes, or physical objects for instant online orders.
Using any Snapchat camera, users can instantly access a card revealing item info, including price, average review scores, and Prime availability.
At the moment, the new feature is being tested in the US, but if successful can be expected to rollout globally in the coming months.
What’s the deal
So far, Snapchat has been quiet on any financial terms of partnership between retailers. Whether monetisation will be gained through referral fees or some other agreement remains to be disclosed.
Under Armour and CoverGirl have both seen success with the new visual search method, as Snapchat is determined to make their camera a new cursor for navigating digital spaces.
With Snapchat losing 17 million users (putting them at 188 million total) and Amazon’s need for social platform connection, this co-operative endeavour could be a boon for both brands.
What do you think about shopping via your Snapchat camera? Do you think this will bring more users to Snapchat and Amazon? Let us know what you think in the comment section.
