Instagram is launching six new effects for its Superzoom feature, which first launched back in October of 2017.
Half-dozen ways to zoom
Superzoom is about to get even more dramatic as sad music, black level adjustments, heart-filled fog, a ‘bummer’ caption, flames, and camera flashes now populate Instagram’s zippy feature.
For those unfamiliar, Superzoom allows user to dramatically zoom on a single object in video, coupled with intensifying music. It's responsible for a lot of “dramatic” posts as of late.
3 seconds of fun
Superzoom has a three second limit, which really calls for some expedient use of fun and engaging features.
Samples of the new feature can bee seen on social and digital media consultant Matt Navarra’s tweet here and ranges from surreal to downright cartoony (especially the flames).
These filters are meant to up the fun level and little else, which once again shows that Instagram understands its youthful demographic. The potential this may have for marketers, however, remains to be seen.
