In order to counter its “ghost town” reputation, LikedIn is relaunching Groups as its own flagship app.

With over 500 million users, the professional networking site has retooled LinkedIn Groups to provide a stronger, more versatile, and more popular flagship app.
A recent announcement detailing the changes to the app came earlier this year, and there's now added functionality in the form of admin pre-moderate comments, new ways to send posts via email, and creating threaded reply forums.
Among the changes
Groups can be made private in order to curtail spam. Conversations taking place within the app will have an in-stream LinkedIn feed for easier following.
Rich media is getting more focus as videos, pictures, audio clips, and more can be shared and reposted.
Group activities will be getting a greater focus in the notifications tab and teams will be able to list themselves as discoverable when ready to self-promote. With all these changes, more traffic could be on the way.
