WhatsApp is adding support for videos native to Facebook and Instagram platforms.
Streamlined
Now, users won’t have to leave WhatsApp to view videos sent through Facebook or Instagram. They’ll be able to view video content without having to leave the app.
The new cross-social functionality follows WhatsApp recent feature allowing YouTube videos to paly within conversations. The additional integration of video from other apps seems like a logical next step.
The feature hasn’t been announced for Android just yet, but has been rolling out on iOS.
Bonus features
Along with the cross-platform video integration, WhatsApp is including increased control over adding and revoking admin privileges for users sharing a group chat.
The push to keep users within an app's ecosystem is nothing new, but momentum is building on features being integrated into more social media platforms. How far can the sharing go?
What do you think about the new features? Do you find it annoying to have to leave the app or open a different browser for content? Let us know in the comments.
