Facebook has unveiled plans for a dislike feature – and the result isn’t exactly what you might expect.
Cast your vote
Instead of simply re-adding the dislike thumbs down button of versions past, Facebook is bringing up and down arrows to their reaction platform.
Independent of the reaction icons linked to the like button, the up and down arrows will work as a sort of upvote/downvote system, similar to Reddit.
Someone will be able to like a comment, yet downvote it as well, giving more complexity to a typically binary system of approving or disapproving posted content.
Statuses off-limits
The new system is for posted content only and won’t appear as an option for updated statuses, which may be a smart move.
According to Facebook, “People have told us they would like to see better public discussions on Facebook, and want spaces where people with different opinions can have constructive dialogue.”
Currently testing a small run in New Zealand, the new voting system is receiving positive results and could provide an added dimension to conversations that Facebook user’s have been in great need.
What do you think about a sort of voting system? Will this enhance your Facebook experience? Let us know in the comments below.
