Google Assistant is finally ready to cover the iPad crowd too.
The latest version of Google Assistant for iOS finally brings the fill Assistant experience to iPad screens.
Google boasts that Assistant on iPad is just as powerful as Assistant on iPhone, but ‘with the added benefit of a bigger screen that supports both portrait and landscape mode’.
To appeal to iPad users, Google is touting the app as a voice-activated smart-device controller, calendar and note-taker.
Super slow rollout
Google Assistant has been available for Android devices since February 2017. It launched an iPhone version in May of the same year. It has taken nearly a year more to come to iPad, and it's not totally clear why.
Possibly, Google is wary of releasing a half-baked flagship app to an iPad market that has a reputation for valuing UX over depth of functionality.
Alternatively, reaching iPad users may simply be a low priority for Google.
Either way, the iPad’s priority has probably jumped recently, since it was announced that Android P will drop support for Google’s most recent tablets.
With cross-device ubiquity, has Google Assistant become your best choice for a voice-activated virtual helper?
