LinkedIn employs mobile job applications

LinkedIn has announced that job seekers can apply for positions using an iOS or Android app.

Seal the deal

In July LinkedIn launched a feature allowing users to search for jobs via its mobile apps. This week's update lets users follow through and apply for positions using their LinkedIn profiles as a resume.

Mobile market

Previously, users had to have a resume to apply for positions through LinkedIn. This update makes it easier for mobile users to apply for positions immediately and potentially get the jump on other applicants.

Jobs

Job searching currently makes up a third of all mobile search queries on LinkedIn, while 56 per cent of LinkedIn's revenue comes from job-related services. This is far higher than revenue from services like premium subscriptions and marketing solutions.

By extending the reach of mobile, job seekers may be inclined to spend more time on LinkedIn and share more data on the platform.

Meaning LinkedIn can deliver more custom ads, and potentially charge a higher rate for them.
