Number Crunch: Instagram Q2

Let's face it, while some users might have turned off Facebook and tuned out Twitter, Instagram is enjoying an extended honeymoon.

Beyond being a heap of fun to use, Instagram is also an increasingly valuable tool for marketers. Here's a look at the latest snap-happy stats. 

200 million

Instagram now has over 200 million monthly active users. 

These users are amongst the most engaged on social, with 70 per cent logging in at least once a day.

35 per cent of users log in more than once a day, while the average users spends almost 300 minutes a month on the platform.

Growth spurt

Instagram continues to grow at a frenetic rate. Year on year the Instagram app has grown by 66 per cent.

Picture this

Every day on Instagram there are over 60 million photos posted, that account for 1000 comments every second.

Some 1.2 billion Likes (or 8500 every second) are also amassed on Instagram every day.

At latest count Insgrammers had posted 35 million selfies.

Mobile

Starting life as an app, it's no surprise Instagram is massive on mobile. Over 98 per cent of US Instagrammers access the platform from a mobile device.

Brand business

A quarter of all Fortune 500 companies now use Instagram, with most posting an average of 5.5 times per week.

And the most popular day to post on? Thursday.
