LinkedIn's had a busy year – rolling out a slew of new features to boost engagement and a set of advertising options to target these users.

It's interesting times for LinkedIn, with these hot-off-the-press stats giving a glimpse into the current state of the social network for professionals. 

Linking the globe

LinkedIn has 238 million users spread over 200 countries and territories. 

And they're engaged: 40 per cent of LinkedIn users check-in daily, while the average user spends 17 minutes a month browsing the platform. 

Business pages

There are 3 million Business Pages on LinkedIn, which display 1.2 million products and services.

Endorsements

LinkedIn Endorsements are increasingly popular. The average LinkedIn user generates five Endorsements, taking the total number of Endorsements to over 1 million. 

Australia

There are just under 4 million LinkedIn uses in Australia, which constitutes 2 per cent of the platform's global membership. Just over 43,000 Australian companies are active on LinkedIn.

The number of Australian LinkedIn users has almost doubled in the past year, averaging out to a sign up every two seconds!
