SMK’s app of the week: Patternator

In a world full of uniform iPhones, expressing yourself can be a challenge.

Now a crafty app called Patternator lets you customise your mobile far beyond novelty covers and ring tones.

Ring a ding ding

Patternator lets you create your own mobile backgrounds, wallpapers, and lock screens. And patterns. Plenty of patterns.

The app lets you choose from millions of stickers and hundreds of colour palettes to give you virtually endless options in expressing your inner artiste.

Phone it in

Once you’ve selected your sticker and background, Patternator lets you tweak to your heart’s content.

Elements such as colour, scale and spacing can all be customised, while you also have the ability to flip and rotate your stickers.

If you want to go more Rothco-esque, you can even splash them randomly across your background.

Emerging artist

Once your creation is complete, you can download the file to use as wallpaper, or order a phone case printed with your bespoke design.

Patternator also lets you share your designs via Instagram and Tumblr.
