Spotify moves from music to moving pictures

Here’s an interesting crossover tale.

Swedish music streaming star Spotify is getting into the movie making business.

Spotify the difference

Spotify's first foray from music to moving pictures will be a 12 show original series.

The shows will revolve around various aspects of music and feature actor Tim Robbins and Def Jam Records co-founder Russell Simmons.

Episodes will cover topics including music history, and animated videos starring iconic artists.

Short and sweet

Each show will run for 15 minutes and be available for free to fee-paying Spotify members in the US, UK, Germany, and Sweden.

With 75 million global users, it will be interesting to see if Spotify’s expansion can lure in new customers from rival big hitters like Apple Music and YouTube.
