Love 'em or loathe 'em: emoji don't look like going anywhere soon.
Case in point: Twitter has just taken delivery of another 72 emoji, just in case you didn't have enough already.
Face time
The new options were released to coincide with World Emoji Day, and include an avocado, a slightly unnerving clown, selfie, pregnant woman, male dancer, and face palm.
Users can also alter elements within the new emoji, such as skin and eye colour.
Emotive response
As part of the release, Twitter has also tweaked details to existing emoji. This includes adding extra options like hats and sunglasses to human characters, and shadow drops to give objects more depth.
At the moment the new additions aren't supported by iOS and Android. For now the best way to use them is to copy and paste directly from sites such as Emojipedia.
Since launching in 2014 over 110 billion emojis have been tweeted.
