In an effort reminiscent of Twitter Lite, the platform has launched a new data-friendly mode to cut-down on performance and battery consumption.
The new Tweet
No longer will users need to download a separate app in order to keep a hold of their data consumption. At the tap of a button, users can switch over to Data Saver mode available in settings.
Until now, Twitter only offered Data Saver for Windows and Twitter Lite, with a few having spotted it on iOS and Android platforms due to a round of beta testing.
Now, the Data Saver feature is broadly available to all platforms and can be found in the settings to be easily toggled on or off. If enabled, images will load in low res and videos will halt auto-play functions.
A bit extra
The update reportedly includes features to make Group Chats easier to manage, and adds improvements to the VoiceOver feature in polls.
If data saving is 100% your top priority, Twitter Lite will still be the leanest platform to utilise but now users have an alternative.
More features are expected to trickle out over the coming months but tweeter can take full advantage of better data management in the meantime.
Do you use Twitter Lite? Is data saving on of your main concerns? Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
