Video is virtually hard currency on Facebook, but its broad reach means creators and brands can't always track where their videos end up.
To help keep your video ducks in a row, Facebook has launched Rights Manager.
Know your Rights
Rights Manager is a collection of admin and workflow tools designed to help you manage and protect your videos across Facebook.
For example, Rights Manager lets you create rules about how individual videos may be used, identify possible infringements on protected content, and whitelist specific Pages or profiles to share copyrighted content. This applies to Live videos as well.
If you're a power publisher, the Rights Manager API lets you protect videos at scale.
Slap down
While sharing is one of the key drivers for video success, Facebook says these measures are a response to brands wanting more control over their content.
With over 100 million hours of video watched every day on Facebook, the Rights Manager could ensure creators and brands get the kudos (and cash) for bespoke video content. The challenge will be in controlling this content, while continuing to allow fans to share.
