Chinese messaging app WeChat is now more popular than Facebook, however users are spending less time on official pages.
According to a China Tech Insights Report, 30% of WeChat's 890 million monthly users spend more than four hours a day on the app.
While 18.1% of users spend between two to four hours hours per day WeChatting, and 21% browse between one to two hours.
The average user spends 66 minutes per day on WeChat – more than the 55 minute average for Facebook.
Interestingly, brands aren't making a lot of headway into this growing audience.
Just 1.8% of WeChat users follow official accounts, which number more than 10 million. Indeed, most official accounts have less than 10,000 followers. And just 15% of WeChat users have purchased a product via an official account.
