As Facebook and Google gear up with Instant Articles and AMP respectively, Twitter's iOS app has taken a shortcut to better mobile viewing.
Fresh tech
Twitter is currently testing an upgrade to the app's built-in browser, with Apple's Safari replacing the bare-bones browser that most users see right now.
Safari's inclusion in the Twitter app comes with numerous benefits, the most important of which is cookies so that users remain logged in to websites.
It also allows users to swipe back to their Twitter feed without needing to click a close button.
Problematic
But while Safari is undoubtedly an improvement, Twitter took it upon itself to force the reader mode to open by default.
The plain view removes clunky advertising and layouts, but at this stage seem less polished compared to the controlled environments of Instant Articles and AMP stories.
