Google AMPs up mobile Search

The NBN might seem like a far off dream, but Google Search isn't wasting any time in its quest for speed.

Its latest update sees a significant boost to mobile loading times.

Google has recently been working on the Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project, an open source platform designed to streamline mobile loading times across the board.

Now the efforts have born fruit.

In less than 6 months 150 million websites have adopted AMP, with another 4 million added every day. Google says the boost benefits everything from social media to mobile e-commerce sites.

The company is still tweaking the format, but you can have a go for yourself by clicking g.co/ampdemo.

Google is now seeking user feedback to make the mobile mobile ever faster.
