Google clamps down on Chromebook security

Google is working on a new way to make Chromebooks more secure.

Lock 'em up

Chromebook's can now be unlocked with a PIN, and secured again using a keyboard shortcut.

The Quick Lock feature is currently being testing in beta, with a wider roll out expected shortly.

Safe and sound

The update comes after Google decided to end support for Chrome apps running in non Chrome OS machines.

While they can't compete with Apple and Windows, Google sold a healthy 7 million Chromebooks last year, marking a rise of 27%.

Not only are Chromebooks cheaper, now they're a bit safer too.
