Social video is a Brave New World – and Facebook is betting Virtual Reality is going to play a bit part in moving pictures.
The social network has just released 360 Video support for iOS.
In a spin
While VR support has been available for Android and web-based Facebook users since September, now iPhone users can view the immersive videos.
Videos can be viewed by tapping and dragging, or enjoyed in full VR using the Samsung Gear VR Headset.
Previously, only a select number of publishers had access to posting these sorts of video. Now Facebook is opening up the gates to advertisers.
Movie magic
Brands including AT&T, Corona, Samsung and Walt Disney World will now be able to post 360 videos, which give users a more immersive experience.
With 8 billion videos being watched every day on Facebook, expect to see more VR content floating your way soon.
