While you could never accuse them of being BFFs, Facebook and Google aren't open to working together when it's mutually beneficial.
The latest teaming of the superpowers is over access to Chrome.
Push button
Now Facebook mobile users will be able to receive Push Notifications on Google Chrome.
The feature can be activated via Chrome’s mobile settings menu.
Better late than never
The update brings Facebook into line with companies including eBay and Vice News, which have boasted Push Notification capability for months.
However the update isn’t without its issues. There are currently a suite of Facebook and third-party apps that will alert you whenever something significant (or not so significant) happens on the social network.
Potential doubling or tripling up of Notifications for the same event might dissuade some users from upgrading right away.
Yet with over half of all Facebook users now mobile, the capacity for brands to reach users on-the-go just increased.
