It’s a big internet out there, and there are many ways to explore it.
While Chrome is top of the browser bunch, one of our favourites is Mozilla Firefox. So today we’re taking a closer look at this little ripper of a browser.
Fire it up
Firefox was launched back in 2004 by Mozilla. Mozilla was originally founded by Netscape Navigator, which those of a certain vintage might remember as one of the first web browsers.
Within nine months of launching Firefox was downloaded 60 million times, posing the first serious challenge to the dominance of Internet Explorer.
Information superhighway
Today there are over half a billion Firefox users around the globe.
In fact, Firefox remains the most popular browser in a number of markets, including Germany and Indonesia.
Global appeal
Firefox is the fourth most popular browser, behind Google, Internet Explore and Safari.
In August 2015 Chrome accounted for 41% of the US browser market, compared to IE (24%), Safari (20%) and Mozilla (10%).
Add-ons
Firefox is famed for its range of free add-ons and extensions.
The three most popular are AdBlock Plus, Video DownloadHelper, and Firebug.
Are you a Firefox fan? if so let us know your favourite add-ons in the comments.
