Google+ drops IE10

Yes, Google+ still exists. Yes, some folks still use it. In fact, it is occasionally used as an enterprise comms tool.

Nope, people running Internet Explorer 10 or earlier will no longer get the full and proper experience.

Migrate and manage

The powers that be at Google HQ seem to have finally marked IE10 for death, removing support for the older browser from social outlet Google+.

The Google Blog is recommending that any businesses still using the old browser should migrate users to a modern browser ASAP. Larger companies may need some change management processes to make sure no-one gets left behind.

IE10 timeline

IE10 was released in September 2012 as the default browser for the initial release of Windows 8. It was not compatible with earlier versions of Windows and it was superseded in the third quarter of 2013, so wasn’t even the default browser for Windows 8.1.

In fact, Microsoft themselves stopped supporting the browser on almost all systems at the start of 2016.

So, Google have given IE10 users almost five years to update their Internet Explorer version or migrate to another more modern browser. That two years more than the browser’s own company did.

What browser do you use these days, and why?
