Facebook has announced Explore, a fresh ad-free News Feed delivering content from their partnered publishers.
News customised for you
Last February, users may have noticed a new option at the bottom of their mobile Facebook Home section called Explore.
Tested as a complementary feed for popular articles, photos, and videos, Explore tailors content for each user based on their interests.
As of July, Facebook officially added Explore to the More menu, ensuring the feature as a permanent fixture to Facebook mobile and desktop.
The new frontier of News Feed
Over the past year, Facebook has been taking great strides to provide new avenues for users to consume journalistic content.
Having made deals with big name publishers like The New York Times, CNN, and Business Insider (just to name a few), the social media giant is trying to bring more variety and points of view when it comes to news.
Though users can subscribe to their own preferred news agencies through an evolving model on Facebook, Explore will expose audiences to content they may not have otherwise discovered, keeping people better informed and providing a chance to explore alternative views.
Do you use Facebook to stay up to date with news? Do you like the idea of articles tailored based on your interests? Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
