One of the essential skills for any modern marketer is the ability to text and send emails with one hand – preferably while tweeting, 'gramming, and pinning with the other.
Now a new update from Google makes it easier to juggle the demands of the modern digital workplace.
The sound of one hand texting
Google Keyboard 5.0 for Android now includes a mode intended to make one-handed texting more streamlined. Or at least less frustrating.
When one-handed mode is selected the keyboard minimises, shifting to either the left or right hand side of the screen. This makes characters more accessible for texting thumbs.
The keyboard also features new gesture controls, and the ability to set the height of the keyboard.
Baby steps
While the update can made one-handed texting quicker, the shrunken keyboard can also make certain letters too small to effectively tap.
Still, for those with big phones and less generously appointed digits (like the author), Google Keyboard's update is a welcome one. Double thumbs up.
