Hootsuite is one of a number of tools to join the G Suite centralised login functionality.
Dozen more on board
G Suite has announced twelve more apps that are part of its Single Sign-On program.
Most prominent of the new batch is Hootsuite, the social media management platform that integrates with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+ and YouTube.
Also on the G Suite SSO roster are Duo, video platform Brightcove, and SMS blaster TextMagic.
Single Sign-On
These twelve apps are not actually becoming part of G Suite’s proprietary offering. Rather, they’re joining the extended family. All of them are now software and services officially acknowledged as being well designed to work with G Suite.
In this case, it’s all about sign-on convenience. G Suite calls this list their ‘pre-integrated SAML applications’.
Seamless SAML
SAML is short for Security Assertion Markup Language. That’s a snazzy way to say that it’s a code G Suite uses to securely and automatically sign users in to all these enterprise cloud apps at the same time. It’s all managed by their Google account credentials.
So, as of June 2018, if you’re logged into G Suite for work and Hootsuite is one of your cloud apps, you should be able to access everything seamlessly.
Is G Suite’s ever-expanding catalogue of adjunct apps a feature that will attracts more clients, or does it muddy the waters with options overload?
