Instagram recently launched Questions Stickers, as a way for users to take the pulse of their friends and followers. It seemed innocent enough, until things started to go wrong.
The premise was simple: whack a Question sticker onto your Story to ask your 'Gram buddies a question, and wait for the response.
While some brands and celebrities have used the feature in innovative ways, the majority of users have complained about their feeds being inundated with mundane, annoying questions.
But Instagram's gravest error was in failing to clearly communicate that Question stickers, unlike similar offerings, aren't anonymous. Many thought they were. This has reportedly led to many Insta-breakups and general sad faces.
However it's not all bad news. While the default settings of Question stickers mean recipients can see your username, the feature can be tweaked to ask more innocent questions, such as 'where's a good pub in Sydney'.
Where is where we imagine some Facebook employees might be hitting this week.
