Instagram unveils the numbers

According to a recent report released by eMarketer, Instagram now boasts over 500 million active monthly users with 40 billion photos shared in today.

Every day on Instagram 95 million photos and videos are generated daily, as well as 4.2 billion Llikes.

When it comes to demographics, 80% of Instagram is comprised of non-U.S. users, with 31% of American accounts comprising women and 24% men.

Close to 50% (48.8%) of brands are advertising through Instagram, and this is expected to rise to 70.7% by 2017.

Currently, the top brands post 4.9 times per week – an increase of over 50% since 2015.

Marketing via Instagram

Interestingly, 60% of top brands advertising their products use consistent filters, while B2C marketers are more likely to see increases in user engagement compared to B2B marketers.

Finally, 75% of Instagram users engaged websites after ads, with hashtag posts seeing a 12.6% increase in sharing.
