LinkedIn’s new Privacy Policy: What you Need to Know

LinkedIn has updated its privacy policy across the board in changes that will affect its 500 million users.

Here’s what you need to know.

Open Source

First up, your LinkedIn profile is now more visible than ever. While profiles have long turned up in search engines, now LinkedIn will allow select third-party services to show your profile to their users.

This will ostensibly increase your chances of new job opportunities and connections. If you’re not convinced or comfortable with this, you can opt out.

More ways to share and care

LinkedIn will now scan your profile for accomplishments, such as awards, that you might want to share with your network.

If you’re after more of a helping hand, you can opt in for assistance from LinkedIn’s productivity bots.

These can assist with everything from suggested message responses and scheduling meetings, to insights on how to connect with other users.

Geography

Finally, it will soon be possible to link up with other users when you’re out and about.

LinkedIn will soon be launching a Nearby feature, that lets you connect with other users who are attending the same conference of meeting.

Will these updates change how you use LinkedIn? Let us know in the Comments.
